چکیده

This paper presents a traffic control agent that can perform the dynamic resource allocation by controlling traffic flows on a DiffServ network. In addition, this paper presents a router that can support DiffServ on Linux to support selective QoS in IP network environment. To implement a method for selective traffic transmission based on priority on a DiffServ router, this paper changes the queuing discipline of Linux, and presents the traffic control agent so that it can efficiently control routers, efficiently allocates network resources according to service requests, and relocate resources in response to state changes of the network. Particularly for the efficient processing of Assured Forwarding(AF) Per Hop Behavior(PHB), this paper proposes an ACWF2Q+ packet scheduler on a DiffServ router to enhance the throughput of packet transmission and the fairness of traffic services.

A Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...

Differentiated QoS routing in GMPLS-based IP/WDM networks

At this point in technology's evolution, the simplicity, elegance, extensibility, and broad compatibility of the Internet protocol suite has made it the automatic choice for most forms of communication. The attempts at resolution of this apparent dichotomy consist of a collection of technologies and philosophies known as Quality of Service. In an IP network, QoS defines the ability to compensat...

Quality of service provisioning through traffic engineering with applicability to IP-based production networks

Production networks require the transport of high-quality multimedia traffic between outside broadcast vans and the main studio. This is typically done through dedicated terrestrial or satellite links, with bandwidth purchased from third party network providers, which is expensive and lacks flexibility. Given the emergence of IP networks and the Internet as the multi-service network of choice, ...

Adaptive packet marking for achieving fairness in DiffServ networks

Current Differentiated Services (DiffServ) networks supporting Assured Forwarding (AF) service succeed in providing minimum rate guarantees, but fail to distribute network capacity in a fair way. To address the unfairness problem we propose simple adaptive markers operating at the network edge, whose marking function adapts to changes of the traffic mix. Extensive simulation experiments indicat...

Measurement-based Admission Control for Real-time Traffic in IP Differentiated Services Networks

The primary role of admission control in Quality of Service enabled networks is to control the amount of traffic injected into the network so that congestion is avoided. We consider IP Differentiated services networks able to support realtime traffic and we present a Measurement-based Admission Control (MBAC) scheme that uses only measurements of aggregate bandwidth without keeping track of any...
